COUPLES THERAPY

When you and your partner come in for your first session, I begin with 4 questions:

1) Why are YOU here and why now?
2)What are YOUR goals?
3)What history is important for me to know about YOUR history and the history of your marriage?
4)What direction do YOU want to go in?There are 3 possiblities:
a)work on your marriage?
b)explore if you want to stay in your marriage?
c)get out of your marriage?

Each person answers these questions for themself, not for their partner.

With this information from both partners, therapy can begin by setting up mutual goals, working towards these goals and evaluating how the couple is doing in this process of change and healing. I see the couple together unless there is an agreement and need to be seen individually.
