                                                     FAMILY THERAPY

When you call for an appointment for family therapy, I meet with  the parents first to get the full family, child and couple histories. If family therapy is appropriate, the whole family will meet together on the next session. I ask each person why he/she is here, what changes  each person  would like to see in the family. Goals are set and  concrete plans are then made to  help facilate healthy changes and healing in the family.

Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open and rules are flexible - the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.

~ Virginia Satir

If there is anything that we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could be better changed in ourselves.
