THE WELL
LEARNING TO BE A PARENT THROUGH FRIENDSHIP, COMMUNITY, WISDOM AND NEUROSCIENCE
Come join us at THE WELL with Stevie! Drink the cool waters of wisdom
and neuroscience and taste the warmth and delight of friendship and
community. This is a place for parents, grandparents and caregivers to
gather to share the joys, challenges and sufferings of parenthood.
Stevie Westmoreland will be with you as a kindred mother and grandmother and as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist[LMFT] and Licensed
Clinical Professional Counselor,[LCPC] to understand and hone your role of
parent with your ever changing and growing children. Discussion will
begin with the topic of parental attunement skills. Skills will
focus on identifying and understanding your child's 4 basic feelings,
mad, sad, glad and scared. We will review "calming yourself down" and the positive effect of mirror neurons with your child. Each month a new topic will be discussed
with educational material available.
THE CORNERSTONE OF A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PARENTS AND CHILDREN IS THE PARENTS'S ABILITY TO PROMOTE THE CHILD'S NEURAL INTEGRATION, BUILDING BRIDGES BETWEEN RIGHT AND LEFT BRAIN AS WELL AS VERTICAL INTEGRATION TO THE OTHER BRAIN CENTERS.
The Whole-Brain Child by Dr. Daniel Siegal
This is a free service provided by THE KENNEBUNK FREE LIBRARY and Stevie Westmoreland
